How I Work

Briefly.

I spend most of my time defending employers in labor and employment disputes and resolving commercial litigation for companies in manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and technology. The approach is simple, if not always easy:

Learn the business first. Cases are won on facts, and the facts live in the operation — on plant floors, in dispatch logs, in scheduling systems, in how the work actually gets done. I spend time inside a client’s operation before forming a theory of the case, because arguments built on a real understanding of the business hold up better in discovery, at deposition, and in front of a jury.

Give answers, not menus. In-house teams have enough open questions. When asked for a recommendation, I give one — with the reasoning and the risk, in plain English, at a length someone can read between meetings.

Treat the budget as part of the case. A result that cost more than it had to isn’t a good result. Early assessment, honest forecasting, no surprises.

The resources on this site exist because most disputes are shaped long before anyone calls outside counsel. If they help your team avoid a few, they’ve done their job.
